Assam is a glorious mixture of several races, languages, castes, socio-economic groups, tribes, semi-tribes and other ethnic groups. The rich blend of traditions different faiths, beliefs, religions, and lifestyles of people form the Huge Assamese Culture. The people of Assam celebrate several festivals, dance forms, music and is proud of its art and crafts, rich cuisines, languages, cultural establishments and elements. This can happen only in Assam.

Assam represents the north-eastern part of the Indian sub-continent. It is seen as the gateway to the seven states of the north-east India. The Assamese Culture is not something which is a product of overnight exposure. The intermixing of different kinds of faith and tradition took place almost more than a thousand years ago. The dynasties that lives at that era, the Asiatic and Tibeto Burman folks were the original holders of their personal traditions which eventually resulted in the formation of the rich Assamese Culture as we can see currently.

In the 12th and 13th Century, the Tai Shans came to Assam under the able leadership of Su-ka-pha and that changed the entire face of the Culture, tradition and the geographical entity of Assam. The Tai people mixed up and embraced the local lifestyle and tradition and they adopted and united various forms of beliefs. traditions and culture which can be said to be the first glimpse of the present culture of Assam.

Fun Time: Indian Jokes

One day Mr. Singh and his family came to visit Mr. Kukreja and his family.
Once after dinner was served, the kids became busy among themselves playing various sorts of games and peek-a-boo.

Tina, four years old (who was the only daughter of Mr Singh) became quite fond of Rahul, five years old who was also incidentally the only son of the Kukrejas. Eventually, they went to the bedroom, tucked themselves under the blanket and started talking.

Tina, a bit curious by nature, asked Rahul: - Are you a boy or a girl?
Rahul was a bit perplexed at this sudden throw of question by Tina.

He replied: - I have no idea, can you please decipher?
Tina said: - For that I will have to do under the blanket again and check down on us.

There she went, checked something and came out in a minute.

Tina: - You are a boy and I am a girl.
Rahul: - How do you know that?
Tina: - It is quite simple actually. You are wearing black socks and I am wearing pink. Well, that solves it out, isn't it?

Fun Time: Assamese Jokes

One day, Mr Gogoi was coming back to his residence after a grand celebration of the Independence Day at one of his friend's place. The path was dark and edgy. Under the effect of alcohol he suddenly tripped on a stone and fell-down at the middle of the road.

Before he could even utter 'ouch' there was a flash at the cloudy sky above him. (Rainy days, you see!)
He was so damn annoyed that he looked up at the sky from where he had fallen and started screaming: "Wah God! This is such injustice. First, you trip me to the ground... and then u take my photo to post it on Facebook, huh?"
